Welcome to the akisconnect.eu platform, a web-based platform that aims to create a networking facility for AKIS actors across Europe. This privacy policy governs the use of your personal data by the akisconnect.eu platform. This platform is a joint initiative by the projects modernAKIS and ATTRACTISS. These projects have received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Programme under grant agreements No 101060527 for modernAKIS and No 101061060 for ATTRACTISS.

The akisconnect.eu platform is committed to user privacy and abides by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and privacy laws. 1.Who is responsible for the processing of your personal data?

Your personal data are processed by the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), a partner in both aforementioned projects, responsible for building the networking platform akisconnect.eu to serve both projects’ objectives.
   
The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) reserves the right to modify, change, or amend this Privacy Policy at its discretion and from time to time. Such modifications, changes, or amendments shall be communicated via the networking platform. In case of questions or comments with regard to the modifications, changes, or amendments, you can inform us by sending an e-mail to info@akisconnect.eu.

2. What categories of personal data do we process?

When you fill out the registration form, interact with the content stored, or interact with other users in akisconnect.eu, we collect:

  • The basic identity information you provide us with, such as name, e-mail address, postal address, telephone number, country and region, the organization you work for, your role in it, etc. All data produced in the platform that identifies you as the owner of a specific asset in the platform or coordinator of a specific activity.
  • All data produced in the context of the communication of registered users in the platform and the technical details of the communication itself (with whom you correspond at our end, date and time, etc.);
  • Your preferences regarding receiving our e-mail communications, such as newsletters, advertisements, notifications, etc;
  • Electronic identification data, such as IP address;
  • Publicly available information about your profile on Social Media Channels and any other personal data you choose to provide to us.

3. For what purpose do we use your personal data?

  • The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) processes your personal data to provide you in a personalized and efficient way with the information, and content you request via the networking platform, e-mail, telephone, Social Media Channels, and fairs and events.
  • The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) processes your personal data to identify you as a registered user of the networking platform, it is always accessible and editable by a user profile section, and is presented to all visitors through your profile page in the platform, whether they are registered or not. This data is needed to provide you with customized content based on your profile, to ensure you have a personalized experience, to inform, and to include you in the services in which you have indicated an interest.
  • The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) processes your personal data to communicate with you as a result of our networking platform’s functionalities that require your consent or active participation.
  • The Agricultural University of Athens processes your personal data to perform statistical analyses so that we may improve our networking platform, our products and services or develop new products and services.
  • The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) processes your personal data for the preservation of the legitimate interests of both modernAKIS and ATTRACTISS projects, their partners, or a third party if and when your registration with, or use of, the Website, Social Media Channels or other communication channels can be considered (a) a violation of any applicable terms of use or the intellectual property rights or any other right of a third party, (b) a threat to the security or integrity of the networking platform, (c) a danger to the networking platform’s or any of the two project’s or their subcontractors’ underlying systems due to viruses, Trojan horses, spyware, malware or any other form of malicious code, or (d) in any way hateful, obscene, discriminating, racist, slanderous, spiteful, hurtful or in some other way inappropriate or illegal.
  • The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) processes your personal data mentioned for marketing purposes, i.e. to provide you with targeted communications, promotions, offerings, and other advertisements of modernAKIS and ATTRACTISS projects and selected partners. The akisconnect.eu platform will only send you communications, promotions, email notifications, and newsletters, via e-mail or other person-to-person electronic communications channels if you have explicitly consented to receive such communications, newsletters, and other advertisements.

4.What are your rights?

  • You have the right to request access to all personal data processed by the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) concerning you. However, AUA reserves the right to charge an administrative fee for multiple subsequent access requests aimed at causing nuisance or harm to the akisconnect.eu platform.
  • You may request the correction of any inaccurate personal data pertaining to you, free of charge. Proof of the inaccuracies must accompany the correction request.
  • You can withdraw your consent for the processing of your personal data.
  • You may request the deletion of personal data concerning you if it is no longer necessary for the outlined purposes or if you withdraw your consent. However, AUA will evaluate deletion requests against the overriding interests of the akisconnect.eu platform or other third parties, and legal or regulatory obligations.
  • You have the right to oppose the processing of personal data if you have serious and justified reasons. Direct marketing processing can be opposed
    free of charge and without justification.
  • You can receive all personal data you have provided to the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
  • To exercise any of the above rights, email info@akisconnect.eu. Requests must specify the desired right, and reasons if required, and include a dated and signed copy of your valid identity card for identity verification. The akisconnect.eu platform will acknowledge receipt promptly and respond within thirty (30) days. 5. Storage of data

Following the guidelines set forth by the GDPR, we exclusively utilize servers that are either internal or situated within Europe, adhering to the regulations of the European Union since May 25, 2018. Your personal data will be retained solely until the expiration of the contractual obligation, which typically spans three years following the conclusion of the project. In the event of an unforeseen data breach, we are committed to promptly notifying affected parties and taking immediate corrective actions to rectify the situation. We unequivocally refrain from selling or leasing your information to third parties. Personal data may only be disclosed if required by program control or within the context of a legal dispute. In instances where subcontractors are involved in data processing, we ensure their compliance with both the GDPR and our privacy policy. The security measures implemented to protect personal information are explicitly outlined.

6. Your rights in terms of personal data storage

You have the right to access your personal data held by the akisconnect.eu platform at any time. If you need to correct or delete data, especially if it's no longer necessary for contract performance, please contact us at info@akisconnect.eu to initiate such requests. Additionally, you have the right to be forgotten, meaning you can request the complete deletion of your data if it's no longer required by contract or law. To make a deletion request, simply email info@akisconnect.eu.

Organizations must respond to requests regarding consultation, modification, or deletion of personal data within thirty days. However, if the request involves a substantial amount of data, this timeframe may be extended. Regardless, you will be promptly informed of the time needed to process your request. To simplify the process of submitting data access or deletion requests, we provide details on applicable mechanisms, such as a contact form or email, for your convenience.

7. What are our quality assurances?

The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) prioritizes processing only essential personal data to fulfill the purposes outlined in the processing objectives. Your personal data is retained solely for the duration necessary to achieve these purposes or until your consent for processing is revoked. Upon cessation of necessity for processing, AUA will anonymize your personal data unless specific circumstances prevent de-identification, such as overriding interests of modernAKIS or ATTRACTISS projects or legal obligations. AUA employs rigorous technical and organizational measures to safeguard your personal data against unauthorized access, theft, or accidental loss. Access to your data is restricted to authorized personnel and third-party processors, who are bound by strict confidentiality obligations and granted access solely on a need-to-know basis.
